What's your vision for Masterton?
Our Future, Our Story - Masterton's Vision Towards 2050
We're putting you in in the driver's seat - this is your chance to shape Masterton’s future.
- Tell us about your experiences of living or working in Masterton-Whakaoriori.
- Share your aspirations for yourself and your tamariki, mokopuna and whānau.
- Tell us what you think we need to do to create the future we want.
Together our experiences, knowledge and stories will help shape a collective vision for our district, with a Development Plan that works toward delivering that vision.
Help create the blueprint that will guide our district to 2050.
Objectives
What we're aiming for
The Development Plan will help guide how Masterton develops and grows to 2050. The Plan will help shape Council decisions as well as offering ideas and direction for mana whenua and our community - from health and social service providers to business owners, developers and investors.
Here’s what we’re working towards:
- A plan that reflects the aspirations of mana whenua.
- Broad community input — including voices that are often harder to reach.
- A shared vision that everyone can see themselves in.
- Community-led actions inspired by the plan.
- Smart, sustainable development supported by good data and design.
What it will cover
What will it cover

Key topics we will need to consider as we develop the plan include:

- Transport
- Infrastructure
- Town Centre
- Community facilities, parks and open spaces
- Community safety and accessibility
- Community arts, culture, heritage and events
- Health and social services
- Education and employment
- Rural and coastal areas
